The heads of state and government of the African Union started a scholarship program called the Pan African University (PAU) Scholarship.

The Pan African University Scholarship is focused on providing qualified and talented individuals with an ideal place of study. African students at home and abroad are open to applying to pursue a master’s or Ph.D. program.

The African Union Commission is responsible for awarding these scholarships to successful African applicants. Individuals with high potential and leadership qualities are equally advised to consider this scholarship.

Pan African University Scholarship Benefits

Through the Pan African University Scholarship program, coverage in the aspect of the tuition fee of an applicant is covered. Below are some of the benefits of the Pan African University Scholarship.

• An individual is wholly exempted from paying tuition fees. This scholarship is fully-funded and handles most financial needs.

• An individual is open to receiving a monthly allowance due to their country of study. 

• An individual has their accommodation sorted out.

• A student can get air tickets from their country of origin to their country of study and vice versa. 

• A student will be issued and listed under a health insurance scheme.

There are numerous other benefits, but the above are some of them.

Eligibility For The Pan African University Scholarship

Below are the eligibility criteria and corresponding courses for individuals applying for this scholarship. They include;

Masters Program

Candidates must fulfill these requirements:

• One must hold a license from a university or high institute recognized by their country.

• Applicants for masters in conference interpreting and translation programs must understand any of the four African Union languages (Arabic, English, French, and Portuguese).

• Applicants must be below 30 for males and below 35 for women.

Doctoral Program

Applicants must fulfill the following conditions:

• One must hold a master’s degree from a university or higher education institute recognized by their country.

• Individuals must commit to working in Africa after graduation.

• An individual must be under 35 for men and under 40 for women.

These are full-time, residential programs. Employees of private or public companies, as well as government employees, are not eligible.

• Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. 

• Nigeria’s University of Ibadan (UI).

• Algeria’s University of Tlemcen.

• University of Yaoundé Il and University of Buea, Cameroon.

Required Documents

Master Section:

• Certificate and valid copies of diplomas and transcripts.

• one color passport photo. 

• A letter of recommendation from your teacher at your university. 

• Copy of passport or ID card (personal information page).

• Detailed CV.

• Names of three references who are university professors (required; include email and WhatsApp addresses).

Required Documents

Doctorate Section:

• Certificate and authentic transcripts and diplomas.

• one passport-size color photo.

• Two letters of recommendation from two of your university’s instructors.

• Copy of passport or ID card (personal information page).

• Detailed CV.

• Names of 3 reference university teachers (with an email address and WhatsApp) (mandatory).

• Research project 3 or 4 pages (proposed subject, questions and objective, research issues, etc.)

Application Procedure

• An individual would need to visit au-pau.org/submission/, click on the option “Register”.

• Utilize a valid username and email information.

• Then go to your inbox and quickly confirm your address by clicking the “Confirmation Link.”

• Provide a valid password and log in using your details.

• Click on the option “Application” page and submit your information.
